Gordon Unsecured Web Only Wireless Access for Alumni and Guests
For people without a Gordon College Active Directory (firstname.lastname) login
Note that you will only have web access (port 80/443), and will be unable to connect to services using different ports (such as AIM, POP3, SMTP). Also note that your wireless connection will NOT be encrypted.
For Windows XP Users:
- Click the Start button at the bottom left of your screen.
- Select Control Panel, then Network Connections (you may have to click "Network and Internet connections", then "Network Connections").
- Right click on your wireless network card and select Properties.
- Click on the Wireless Networks tab at the top.
- If "Gordon_WPA_Secure" or "Gordon_Wireless_Instructions" appear in the list, select each one individually and click "remove".
- Click "Add". For Network Name, type "Gordon_Guest_Wireless", and for Network Authentication, select "Open", and for Data Encryption, type "Disabled".
- Click ok to close the windows and you will be connected.
For Windows Vista Users:
- When Vista notifies you that wireless networks are available, select the "Gordon_Guest_Wireless" network to connect to.
For Macintosh OS X Users:
- Click the Airport icon at the top right of your computer, and click "Other".
- For Network Name, enter "Gordon_Web_Only", and for Wireless Security, select "none".
- Click ok to connect.
